Irish Moss Seaweed Natural Superfood

Irish moss (Chondrus crispus or gracilaria) is not actually a "moss" but a type of seaweed that has been used for centuries in Ireland as a healing sea vegetable used in soup broths to fortify and strengthen malnourished individuals. It is a natural source of various nutrients and polysaccharides, like carrageenan, known for its usefulness as a nutritious thickening agent. There is a big difference however between "food grade" carrageenan extract and the naturally dried irish moss. The whole soaked gracilaria variety is commonly used today as a blended gel that can be added to a variety of drinks, desserts and condiments. Learn how to make your own homemade gel using our basic recipe.
